Spartanburg County Council District One Internship Program

Councilman Michael Brown, Representative for the Spartanburg County Council District One, provides internship opportunities through his District offices. Interns will work to gain a valuable and comprehensive appreciation for the formulation of public policy and how local government functions. In addition to gaining valuable experience and knowledge of the Spartanburg County Council, interns will gain practical experience assisting Council staff with constituent services, coordinating District One Community Surveys, scheduling community forums, conducting policy research, and assisting with special projects and assignments.
Qualifications
Successful candidates are undergraduate students and recent college graduates with a strong academic background and an interest in public service or government as demonstrated by coursework or extracurricular activities. Interns must be hardworking and self-motivated, with exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a strong attention to details. All applications will be considered, however, preference is given to residents of Spartanburg County District One.
Application Deadlines
There are no application deadlines. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis as interns are accepted throughout the year.
