Among legal honors and recognition that Michael has received are the prestigious John M. Holland Scholarship while in law school, invited faculty speaker to 2007 AAJ National Convention in Chicago, a 2007 Charter Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America, 2008 Spartanburg Bar Association C. Bruce Littlejohn Young Lawyer of the Year Awardee, 2009 Fellow of the American Association of Justice and the National College of Trial Advocacy. In addition, Michael was selected in 2009 to be a part of the prestigious Liberty Fellowship Program, Class of 2011 and is an Aspen Global Leadership Fellow who recently traveled to Amman (Dead Sea), Jordan in February 2011 to present and participate in an Aspen Institute Global Seminar.

Michael is an active member of the Rotary Club of Spartanburg and is a Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary International. In 2010, Michael was selected to serve as the first ever Community “Ambassador” for Christmas In Action (Spartanburg), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit agency that, in partnership with the community, repairs homes of low income, elderly, and/or disabled homeowners.
